When I first started consulting for a multi-cloud solutions MSP company, my knowledge of the "cloud" was limited. However, as I gained hands-on experience and learned from experts in the field, I began to see the cloud as a "house," and the MSP as the "plumber," "painter," "carpenter," "repairman," "security agent," "mover," and "interior designer" all rolled into one.
The value propositions of an MSP are clear: cost reduction, data protection, maintaining performance and security for a smooth, safe environment, and well-organized, sustainable data management.
Then, the experts introduced me to software like Datadog, which can automatically cover many of the roles an MSP typically handles. Actually, we are a Solutions Partner of Datadog. Large organizations’ IT departments are already using such automated solutions. While these tools are likely more efficient than hiring an individual IT professional, they come at still a high operational cost.
After learning about automation, a big question mark appeared in my mind: Why is there still demand for MSPs in the cloud management market? Naturally, I asked the experts this question.
One of the experts thought for a moment and then said quietly, "I believe AI will eventually take over our business, but for now, there’s still a need for MSPs in the cloud management market. Think of software like a fire alarm system at home. We’ve all had those false alarms where the system detects harmless incidents—like particles or smoke that we already noticed.
The software still can't accurately differentiate between harmful and harmless incidents. That's why we still need human eyes, ears, and judgment—to assess, feel, and communicate through insights and intuition that only people can provide.
Humans can also offer something that software can’t: empathy and warmth. Through our voice tones, nuances, and expressions, we bring a level of connection and understanding that technology simply cannot replicate. This is a 'true' value of services.
As an experienced MSP, we provide the value our customers need. Many come to us because they either don’t know how to use the software effectively or simply don’t have the time to learn. We step in to manage the software on their behalf, saving them time and ensuring it’s used to its full potential.
Take 24/7 monitoring, for example. While software can send alerts with suggested solutions, it’s the human MSP who can receive those alerts, interpret them, and apply the best solutions promptly and accurately. This ensures the customer’s cloud environment is secure and running smoothly.
When a real cyber attack occurs, an MSP is already prepared, like a warrior with a sharp sword and a strong shield, confidently defending against the threat and ensuring the protection of our customer’s valuable data!
I found myself nodding in agreement. I truly believe in the value we provide. With this understanding, I’m now confident in recommending our MSP services to anyone!
